Artist Statement
Welcome to Fairywings Jewelry and Gems!
I design and make jewelry from our home in the woods near Knoxville. I established Fairywings Jewelry and Gems about 12 years ago, and attribute the peaceful, natural settings my inspiration. “
The name of my business came from the love of anything fairy and being part Irish.
My jewelry has developed over the years to where it actually has a certain style to it—simple with an earthy quality.
I design and create multiple types of jewelry: hammered metal, copper patina, wire wrap design, cold connection, alcohol ink, soldered, and some etching.
I love making jewelry and like to do a variety. I don't always have a plan when starting a piece; it can end up as something totally different from what I thought it would be as I begin forming it.
Creating copper patina with a torch can be very exciting as the colors develop-------You never know what will happen!
